Four projects, 370 homes
Slave Lake’s housing crunch should be severely put to the test this year. If all goes as planned, construction will at least begin – and possibly finish – on four large housing developments, bringing around 370 homes onto the market.

Tolko joist plant not going here
Sturgeon County is the winner in the latest Tolko sweepstakes – otherwise known as ‘who will get the next Tolko mill.’ Tolko announced last week that it would build a $35 million I-joist plant near Edmonton, in a Sturgeon County industrial park just northeast of the city.

Area man gets 54 months for sexual assault
Phil Lokken, defense counsel for a 34-year-old man who pleaded guilty to repeatedly assaulting his stepdaughter over the course of several years said his case was a difficult one and was relieved his client spared the victim the anguish and embarrassment of a trial.
