RCMP recover $30,000 in stolen goods from Canyon Creek
Members of the Slave Lake RCMP descended on a residence in Canyon Creek on Jan. 23 and 28 to execute two search warrants. The second visit revealed approximately $30,000 worth of stolen and illegally obtained goods.
Mayor looks to the future, sees a lot happening
Slave Lake Mayor Karina Pillay-Kinnee had not intended to announce her candidacy for a second term so early. But somebody asked her, and where many politicians would have been coy, she says she had no reason to beat around the bush.
Home invasion injures two, RCMP have suspect in custody
Slave Lake police responded to a complaint of a weapon assault last Tuesday, Jan. 30. Officers attended the scene and found two injured males, age 49 and 37. One of the victims was suffering a wound consistent with being stabbed and the other had a cut on his head. The two were treated for non-life threatening wounds at the Slave lake Health Complex and released.

Edmonton rink wins firefighters’ bonspiel
A good time was had by all at the 48th annual Alberta Firefighters Association Curling Championship in Slave Lake last week. The Jim Henderson rink of Edmonton had the best time of all winning in extra ends over the John Morris squad of the Calgary Fire Department.
Wolves give higher teams something to think about
Hard work, they say, will pay off in the end. The end is near for the Slave Lake Wolves and they worked hard in three games in three days last week.
