Slave Lake police responded to a complaint of a weapon assault last Tuesday, Jan. 30. Officers attended the scene and found two injured males, age 49 and 37. One of the victims was suffering a wound consistent with being stabbed and the other had a cut on his head. The two were treated for non-life threatening wounds at the Slave lake Health Complex and released.
The suspect had left the scene before police arrived. Constable Patrick Poulin of the local RCMP describes the events that led to the alleged stabbing.
“An argument had occurred earlier in the day and the accused (went) back to the location armed with knives,” Poulin says in an RCMP news release. “The accused forced his (way) into the residence (and allegedly) committed the offenses.”
Officers located and arrested the suspect some time later and learned the 23-year-old man was already under court ordered recognizance from Jan. 13 for three charges of assault with a weapon, break and enter, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
RCMP continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding these allegations and further charges are pending.
