M.D. taxes to rise roughly five per cent
M.D. #124 council passed its 2007 tax rate by-law on Apr. 25. It calls for adjustments to the mill rates for the various property classes so as to achieve an approximate five per cent tax increase.
Town cops change colours, responsibilities too
A piece of provincial legislation came into effect yesterday that brings all the various municipal cops under one umbrella. The Public Security Peace Officer program unites all provincial peace officers in one uniform. Slave Lake community constables suited up in their new colours for the first time on Apr. 26.
