Slave Lake, Alberta

Gold, silver and bronze

Joe McWilliams
Lakeside Leader

Two Slave Lake tae kwon do students competed at the Jr. provincials in Edmonton on May 19. Bradon Doll and Riley Gauchier both came home with gold medals in one event. For Bradon it was the green belt patterns; for Riley it was black stripe sparring. Bradon also won bronze in sparring and Riley earned a silver for patterns.
Gauchier is one of the High Prairie students that has been training with Slave Lake’s Northern Spirit Tae Kwon Do Club, says instructor Bruce Whitney. He just recently successfully tested for his black belt.
This past weekend, several club members competed in a tournament in Calgary. Look for results in an upcoming issue of The Leader.
Whitney says that will be the final event of the season for the club, not counting a June 9 wind-up barbecue.
