Gov’t. centre on schedule, should go to tender this fall
Slave Lake’s new government centre and library is ‘on track’ and should go to tender this fall. That’s the assessment of Betty Osmond, Slave Lake’s town manager and the person who should know if anyone does.
Skateboard input wanted for new park
This Thursday, July 19, is an important date for local skateboarders. The Town of Slave Lake is moving ahead with plans for a new concrete skateboard park, and wants to hear from local people on how they’d like it to look. The chance comes up on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at town council chambers.
Environmental group hopes to re-assert itself
One man’s concern for the environment has sparked him into action. Smith resident Harlan Light is moving to re-activate the Smith Environmental Association (SEA). He says it was once a potent body that worked closely with government agencies to effect change and promote sustainability.

Boyd Kelham was surprised when he ended up champion of the Sawridge Inn & Conference Centre’s first annual Riverboat Daze strongman competition.
Sox, Indians end in 4 - 4 tie
Southshore Men’s League baseball action started last week with a rare tie. With darkness decending, the Wabasca Indians and Boss Pressure Red Sox were deadlocked 4 - 4, so they decided to call it a night. It was the first tie in the league this season.
