Slave Lake, Alberta

Skateboard input wanted for new park

This Thursday, July 19, is an important date for local skateboarders. The Town of Slave Lake is moving ahead with plans for a new concrete skateboard park, and wants to hear from local people on how they’d like it to look. The chance comes up on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at town council chambers.
The town’s community services director Karl Hill says he expects construction to start late next month, so he’s hoping for a good turnout.
“I would love that,” he says.
The idea is to explain the possibilities and gather suggestions and then forward the information to Spectrum Skate Park Creations Ltd. of Vancouver, the firm already chosen to build the new facility.
Hill says it’ll be concrete, but hopefully incorporate some of the equipment already in place at the skateboard park in Hilda Eben Park in the southeast part of Slave Lake. The project’s budget is $160,000.
