The Slave Lake Sharks sent a relatively small contingent to a swim meet in Peace River on July 21. Only nine participated, but they made their mark.
“They swam extremely well,” says head coach Lenny Richer. “Sixteen personal bests out of 36 swims.”
Laurel Perrott and Erik Labrie had the best success, winning gold aggregate in their age groups. Robyn Chemago won silver aggregate in the Girls 12 & Under.
Chemago earned silver by winning the 200 Free and 50 Free races. She placed second in the 50 Fly and 50 Back.
Perrott was first across the board, winning the Girls 15 & 16 50 Free, 400 Free, 50 Fly and Open 800 Free.
Labrie won the Boys 8 & Under 25 Free, 50 Free, 50 Fly and 100 IM.
Seven of the nine swimmers set personal best times. They were Lindsay Chemago, Carly Laboucan, Erik Labrie, Trevor Labrie, Brianna Ladouceur, Erikka Ladouceur, Jiles Ladouceur and Laurel Perrott.
The Sharks have this weekend off. Next weekend they compete at the regional meet in Grande Prairie, which is the qualifier for provincials.
