Thanks to cranky weather last Friday morning, Slave Lake’s first annual ‘art walk’ was transferred to the Sawridge Plaza Mall from its intended outdoor site at the visitor information centre. One of the exhibitors was Chris Onyszchuk, whose ceramic art, above, made nice impression.

Rolled cars, stuck fingers, smashed trailers
July 28 was a day for the record books for Slave Lake’s volunteer fire department, as well as other emergency services. It started at 2:00 a.m. and went more or less non-stop for the next 16 hours, call after call after call.

Wind and lightning storm knocks over trees, knocks over fences
The early morning storm on July 30 sounded quite bad, but most of the damage in Slave Lake was confined to overturned poplar trees. It could have been much worse, but in most cases, the trees missed buildings and vehicles.

Sharks feast on competition at home meet

Swim teams are expected to win their home meets, thanks to a scoring system that rewards participation. The Sharks did not disappoint their fans as hosts on July 27, winning by a whopping 80 points over their nearest rival.
