Slave Lake’s public schools experienced a rush of unexpected last-minute enrollment last week. Why? One reason was the abrupt termination of the K – 6 French Immersion program at St. Mary of the Lake School.

Sports Highlights

Hockey school is a lot like a hockey practice, except there’s a lot more of it. This year’s Slave Lake school was run by ex Princeton University Tiger (and Slave Laker) Darryl Marcoux (standing with his back to the camera) and attended by about 100 students aged six to 17. It ran for five days last week at the Arctic Ice Centre.

Gilwood golf club held its annual club championship tournament on Aug. 25 and 26. Actually it was three tournaments going concurrently – the men’s ladies’ and juniors’.
