Golfers are still making good use of the links at the newly expanded Gilwood Golf and Country Club with more than 70 taking part in regular action last week.
That kicked off with Men’s Night Tuesday when 28 men showed up for individual play and a blind draw to create teams, says a report from the club.
The first place team recorded a total score of 168 strokes. Participants on the team included: Cory Emes, first; Lawrence Ghostkeeper, second; Murray Broadhead, third; and Duncan Fisk, fourth.
The second place team with an identical 168 score included: Brent Hill, first; Todd Hawlyliw, second; Sonny Kebel, third; and Evan Baranyk, fourth.
(We apologize, the fax sheet with the names of the third and fourth team was missing!)
Fifth place team – which notched a score of 182, included: Larry Logan, first; Mike Popko, second; Paul R., third; and Doug Albers, fourth.
Ladies’ Night
The following night 27 ladies took over the course for a little bingo, bango, bongo, the report adds. In that case, group winners included Shirley Properzi, Bonnie Allarie, Kelly Calhoun, Ann McDonald, Judy Green, Connie Schultz, Carol Anscombe and Shirley Hunt
Seniors’ play
Finally, 13 seniors took to the links Thursday morning.
In that case, the format “was individual play with the scores taken from the score to make the best poker hand,” says the report from club pro Stan Ostapczuk.
The prize for four of a kind went to Marlene Gamble; and full house honours to her husband Don, Sandy Larson and Vi Baird.
