Town council election: we've got a race
Rumour had it that a dozen people would toss their names in for Slave Lake town council in the Oct. 15 election. The rumour was false; only seven did, making it a less interesting race than the last one, but still a race.
Nine seek M.D. council seats
A decent race is shaping up in the M.D. of Lesser Slave River, where nine candidates are duking it out for six council seats. The position of reeve, on the other hand, goes by acclamation to incumbent Denny Garratt.
Two in mayoral race
Buckle up for a good race for the mayor’s chair on Slave Lake town council. Challenging the incumbent mayor is Chris Jones – well known around town in recent years for his volunteer work.

Making a new building out of an old one
Engineers have been looking at the Arctic Ice Centre and working out plans for extending its life. The latest is a $7.8 million proposal, that town staff have since whittled down to $6.5 million. Town council heard about it on Sept. 18.
