Says Gwen: “The antlers have been collected over the years.” The sunken garage, with its layers of white chinking and snowshoes nailed to the side are a trip to yesteryear. Sparks don't fly at candidates' forum
The chamber of commerce’s all-candidates’ forum last Wednesday was pretty much a love-in. Punches were pulled, fangs were not bared and claws remained sheathed.

Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full
Three bags of garbage at the curbside on pick-up day is what town council approved for Jan. 1, 2008 at its Oct. 2 meeting. It’s a departure from the earlier version of the waste by-law, which had called for a two-bag limit to go into effect on that date.

Skateboard park: finished this fall or not?

Work is proceeding nicely on Slave Lake’s skateboard park in Hilda Eben Park in the community’s southeast quadrant. But thanks to a province-wide shortage of cement, it might not be finished before the snow flies.



Gun club holding shooting competition on newly certified range

Things are looking up at the Slave Lake Rod & Gun Club’s shooting range. Long in a somewhat rustic state, the range is spruced up, newly certified, and hosting a shooting competition on Oct. 14.
