Pillay-Kinnee returned as Slave Lake mayor
Incumbent Slave Lake mayor Karina Pillay-Kinnee earned re-election on Oct. 15. She defeated challenger Chris Jones by 201 votes – 731 – 530.

Winterhawks take it on the chin from Lamont
A talented opponent plus a little rust added up to a season-opening loss for the Slave Lake Winterhawks on Saturday. Facing the leaque champion Lamont Bruins, the 'Hawks had their chances, but didn't have the answer for Lamont's speed and puck control game.
Wolves win on the road
