Atco Electric and Atco Gas brought an entertaining piece of theatre to local schools last week. The play, called “Super Power” helps kids understand the benefit and dangers of electricity and gas. Foreign workers arrive
After nearly two years of work for a Slave Lake man, the first fruits finally hit the ground last week when 10 temporary workers arrived in Edmonton from the Philippines. Destined for jobs in Slave Lake and Red Earth Creek, the group includes a couple of professionals.
Rainbow Pipeline spill, one year later
Oct. 10, 2006 was ‘black Tuesday’ in Slave Lake – at least it was for the animal residents of a few beaver ponds east of town. That was the day that an oil pipeline sprung a leak, spewing about 1,200 cubic metres of black crude into a series of ponds.

The Bantam ‘C’ Thunder took on Hinton on Saturday. It was a see-saw battle that saw Slave Lake prevail by a 6 - 5 score. Here, Aidan Keaveny battles with the Hinton player on the face-off.

Winterhawks lose in Drayton, win at home
The season of ups and downs continued for Slave Lake’s senior men’s hockey team on the weekend. This time it was down and then up, as they lost 7 – 2 to Drayton Valley on Saturday and then returned home to beat the Hinton Heat 8 – 4.
Lost weekend for Wolves
Information on the Slave Lake Wolves was sketchy at press time Monday morning, but the scores were in and they didn’t look all that good. On Saturday the Wolves lost 10 – 3 to the Peace River Navigators and on Sunday they took it on the chin again, dropping a 7 – 3 decision to the Grande Prairie Wheelers.
