Man killed in Hwy. 88 crash
A Slave Lake father of five was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Highway 88, 4 km south of the Highway 754 turnoff.
Shop size dilemma holds up zoning change for new subdivision
M.D. council has its work cut out on the matter of acceptable shop sizes in country residential zones. The current one simply doesn’t allow outbuildings the size called for in a subdivision proposed next to Gilwood golf course.

Winterhawks pummel the league leaders
Saturday’s game was supposed to be another tough one for the Slave Lake Winterhawks. If they played hard against they league-leading Onoway Ice Dogs, they had a chance of keeping it close.
Guess again.
Wolves lose 6 - 2 to Peace River
A loss is a loss, but the Slave Lake Wolves have had much worse ones to the mighty Peace River Navigators this season. On Friday they visited the town on the big river and lost 6 – 2.
