The Slave Lake Wolves were hoping for better things when the Fort St. John Huskies came to town.
The Huskies had a tough middle stretch of the season, losing seven straight at one stretch, including twice to Beaverlodge.
But they were apparently back on form in Saturday’s game - or the Wolves were off form. The Huskies scored early and often in a 7 - 1 win.
Sunday’s effort was much better, says coach Scott Sinclair.
“If our penalty kill was more effective we would have made it easier on ourselves,” he says.
The final was 6 - 3 for the Huskies.
That game was the third in three days for the hard-working Wolves. On Friday they played in Peace River and lost 12 - 2.
Sinclair says his team played really well in the first period, but had little to show for it.
The Wolves now have a two-week break in their schedule, getting back into action on Feb. 2 in Dawson Creek.
“All we can do is go back to work and heal up,” says Sinclair.
