Town council approves budget calling for 5.3 per cent tax increase
It wont be official until the mill rate bylaw has passed, but it looks as if Slave Lake taxpayers will pay a 5.3 per cent hike in property taxes this year. In exchange, they'll see no reduction in service levels, plus minor improvements here and there, plus infrastructure upgrades and the beginning of a huge civic construction project.

Bantam 'AA' take first game of playoffs

To all intents and purposes, the Bantam 'AA' Thunder are moving on to the second round of Sturgeon Pembina playoffs, after thumping Hinton 12-0 in the first game of their two-game playoff series. They might play the second, and they might not, says coach Brad Pollard, but the rules say if the goal spread is 10 or better after the first "you don't have to play the second."



Better effort from Wolves vs. Wheelers, says coach

Slave Lake Wolves' coach Scott Sinclair doesn't have a lot to say about his team's two losses to Dawson Creek and Sexsmith the weekend before last. "Pretty frustrating," is about it.
