Joe McWilliams

The Pee Wee ‘A’ Thunder hit the road on the weekend to begin their league championship series against Edson. Like their Bantam counterparts, they were victorious, winning by one goal to take a 1 – 0 series lead.
Edson had the early advantage – a 1 – 0 first-period lead that turned into a 2 – 0 lead five minutes into the second. But the Thunder responded, scoring four straight in the second period to take a 4 – 2 lead.
Edson got one back in the third, but that was the end of it.
Scoring for Slave Lake were Braydon Stasow, Dalton Masur and Thomas Foster with two. Steve Lovelace was in on three of the goals and Justin Loroff also got an assist.
Taylor Andres was the winning goalie.
Slave Lake beat Barrhead to get into the final. Edson beat Whitecourt. Edson had the edge over Slave Lake in the season series.
