Herb and Cindy, are you out there? A fellow named Chris, whom you met and photographed at an Aerosmith concert in December of 2006 is trying to get hold of you. Chris tells us via e-mail that he’s keen to get his hands on the photo you took of him and his girlfriend at the concert – the one that shows them with the band right behind them. Apparently Herb and Cindy promised to send him the pic and never did, “so I have been living in agony ever since.”
Wow. Living in agony. That’s pretty rough, so we’re hoping Herb and Cindy, or somebody who knows them can get the message through. The guy’s e-mail address is gusgustoferson@yahoo.com .

Local ambulance dude Trevor Davies was by the office early last week with some news of the FYI variety. The ambulance service is again planning a week of events in late May, “to celebrate another year of serving our community.”
The dates aren’t exactly set, but the idea is they will coincide more or less with National Emergency Medical Services Week, May 20 – 26. So look forward to teddy bear clinics (not sure what those are), pancake breakfasts (yes!), and the always-popular mock disaster scenario, which will probably involved the drama department of one of the local schools.
Look for more information in The Leader as the week approaches.

We’re not sure if enough nice things have been said about the fire department crew that put on the ‘24-Hours of Hockey’ tournament every year at about this time. The fourth annual went off Mar. 20 and 21 and as far as we could tell a good time was had by all. Fire chief Greg Gramiak’s chow at the wrap-up just keeps getting better (two kinds of shrimp for goodness sake!) and the style of competition that is emphasized and for the most part practiced in the games makes it possible for certain geezers (no names) to keep participating in spite of their doctors’ and wives’ advice. So to Terry, Jamie, Karl and the boys – nice work, as always!
Oh, by the way, there’s money involved, which goes toward upgrades to the live fire training facility out there on the east edge of town. It’ll be getting a second story one of these days, thanks to money raised through the hockey tournament. So thanks also to all those who donated cash.

Jennifer Hills of Staples Business Depot got back to us the other day via e-mail. We had asked for information about the store the company is supposedly building in Slave Lake.
Hills says the tentative grand opening date is Aug. 9 of this year. If so, that’ll be some fast work, considering that last week they were still putting pilings into the ground over there. But those construction people know what they’re doing.

This just in from the NWJHL people. Peace River won Game 5, 5 - 4 in double overtime. They now trail Whitecourt by three games to two.
