Boisvert best at Gilwood Memorial Spring Open

Joey Boisvert’s 73 over 18 holes was the lowest score at the first Gilwood golf tournament of the season this past weekend. Playing in the second flight, Boisvert easily topped his handicap group, and bettered first flight leader John Keaveny by three strokes as well.
Runners up in the men’s first flight were Roger Cheechoo and Joe Schultz, each at 77, and Edward Dizon at 81. In the second flight, Marcel Auger and Bill Pearson both fired 85s.
Connie Schultz was the winner on the women’s side with a score of 88. Irene Bateman was second at 100. In the second flight it was Shirley Hunt at 105, Karen Pearson at 111 and Sue Giesbrecht breezing in at 112.
Aidan Keaveny won the junior category with a score 101, followed by Conor Keaveny at 122 and Jaydon Schultz at 127.
When it came to closest-to-the-pin prizes, John Ostapczuk, Marshal Sloan, Darin Busk and Dawna Bates were winners. Chris Jones and Mary Ann Urchyshyn sank the longest putts on #9 and #18.
Men’s Night
In other Gilwood news, 29 golfers showed up for the first Men’s Night event of the season at Gilwood on May 20.
Coming in first with a score of 221 was the team of Bill Pearson, Rick Lukan, Reno Bernard, Joe Schultz and George Dashkewytch. Nine strokes behind them was the team of Darren Bellerose, Robert Bottle, Lawrence Ghostkeeper, Robert Harley and Robert Cardinal.
