No homer tournament and home run derby should appease all

July’s River Boat Daze happen to coincide with another baseball tournament and derby.
On July 5, 6 and 7, the Rotary club is hosting a unique slow pitch tournament they call the “No Homer Tournament.”
The gist is just that. No homers are allowed, and if one is hit, it is treated as an out. Co-Ed 6/4 teams are welcome, and lots of them.
“Theres a lot of diamonds, so we can take tons of teams,” says Rotarian Harry Bartlett.
He believes there’s a lot of teams out there who pride themselves on their fielding, and sometimes watching heavy hitters drive it out of the park all day gets a little dull.
All teams are invited to play in the tournament that happens at Sinclair Fields for a $250 admission. There is no admission fee for spectators.
Now, before you heavy hitters start whining, Harry’s got a plan. Across the street at Charity Park, a “Home Run Derby” is happening. For 10 bucks, all those folks that like to hit ‘em hard will get their chance. Ten dollars will buy you a set number of pitches, and hitters can buy in twice, for a second round.
This will be a library fundraiser, with all concession profits going to the cause. Again, contact Harry for more information at 805-0482.
