RCMP Const. Kelly Brown and a couple of young flagbearers led a parade through Slave Lake on June 21, to begin the festivities marking National Aboriginal Day. The celebraton, including food and entertainment, continued in Schurter park.

At age 65, Elmer Kreutzer is into his 51 year of playing senior men's baseball in Slave Lake, and apparently loving every minute of it.
Twenty charged in cocaine bust
Slave Lake RCMP wrapped up a six-month long drug investigation last week, and the results are impressive. Twenty people face charges of trafficking, according to a June 20 news release.

Boxers to fight in Quebec Cup
Two fighters from the Slave Lake Boxing Club fought their way on to the provincial team and will be plying their trade in Montreal this week.
Eight teams advance in provincial floor curling
Slave lake played host to floor curlers from around the province on June 13 and 14. Twenty-four teams representing most of the zones of Alberta took part - 96 players in all.
