Slave Lake Pee Wee Heat end season with a 1-2 record at provincials

Kevin Campbell

The Slave Lake Pee Wee Heat finished up their season with a solid effort in Killam at provincials over the July 26 weekend.
In their first game Saturday morning, the Heat fought hard but came up short losing 8-3 to Taber. Pitching duties were shared by Brayden Stasow, Austin Kuhn, Tyler Campbell and Zachery Gill.
The Heat then faced a must-win situation against the host team Round Hill. The Heat played hard but couldn’t match the bats of Round Hill and ended up losing the contest 18-7. Key hits from Jordan Tonsi, Steven Lovelace, Corbin Cooper and Dalton Masur helped to keep the Heat close.
In Sunday’s consolation game, the Heat played Grande Prairie, a team the Heat had lost to all season.
The Heat bats came to life with Cole Cooper, Dalton van der Nest, Ethan Ball and Randall Weber sharing in the slugfest, handing Grande Prairie a 20-6 loss.
Shutting down Grande Prairie on the mound were Tyler Campbell and Brayden Stasow.
The players and coaches would like to extend a thank you to the sponsors who helped to provide funding for their season. The Heat would like to thank Butram Enterprises, Exact Oilfield, Slave Lake Specialties and Rick and Dawneen Ball.
