A tractor-trailer unit carrying a load of crushed cars ended up resembling its cargo, when it left the highway and rolled into the ditch north of Slave Lake on Highway 88.

Wolves open season with losses, but positive signs
Slave Lake’s Jr. ‘B’ hockey team launched its 2008/09 season on the weekend by taking the league champion Peace River Navigators to a shoot-out on Friday night in Peace River. Although Peace River won in the shoot-out, the game has to be regarded as a positive beginning for the young club, which experienced little but futility in the Nav’s barn last season.
Winterhawks pound Athabasca in exhibition
NSlave Lake’s senior men’s hockey team saw action much earlier than usual on the weekend. They traveled to Athabasca to play the resurrected Aces on Saturday night, coming away with a 9 – 4 victory.
