The positive early signs continue for the Jr. ‘B’ Wolves. Playing on the road this past weekend, the wild dogs won their first of the season against the Sexsmith Vipers, with a whopping seven goals.
That was on Sunday. On Saturday night they lost their second 5 - 4 contest of the season, to the Dawson Creek Jr. Canucks.
“We played a real good road game for probably 50 out of 60 minutes,” says coach Scott Sinclair.
This weekend the Wolves have a pair of games at home. On Saturday Sexsmith is in town and on Sunday the Wolves get their first look at the Blades.
The Wolves led 3 - 1 at one point in the Dawson Creek game, but had fallen into a 3 - 3 tie by the end of the second period. Sinclair says the team played "like we were expecting them to score," in the third.
Nicholas Plourde, Thomas Garon, Shaun Lovelace and Tyson Price scored the SLave Lake goals. Kurtis Kubel had a good game, assisting on three goals. Nico Perry handled goaltending duties.
In Sexsmith, the Wolves had "probably the same effort, but better execution," Sinclair says. They enjoyed period leads of 2 - 0 and 5 - 1 en route to an 8 - 1 victory.
Alex Plourde had a big game, scoring three times. Other scorers were Alex MacIsaac, Tyson Price with two, Michael Loroff and Kurtis Kubel.
Kubel again had a three-assist effort, as did Colter Tkach. Curtis Malbeuf played the game in goal for the Wolves.
