Mooney Creek bridge to get a fix-up
Residents used to using the alternate route out of and into town to the west will be happy to learn that the M.D> council has decided not to permanently close the Mooney Creek Bridge.
The future of EMS services
There seem to be a fair number of rumours swirling lately about the Slave Lake ambulance service. One such rumour The Leader has heard has the service losing its advanced life support service capability as a cost-saving measure, once the town and M.D. withdraw from responsibility for funding the service.
Tolko mill to take a month off
Tolko Industries' engineered wood products mill near Slave Lake will be shut down for a bit over a month, starting on Dec. 15, mill manager Perry Fox confirmed the down time last week, which he says will run to Jan.18.

A Midget 'AA' player (possibly Riley Eben) snaps a shot at the Westlock goalie on Friday night at the Arctic Ice Centre. The goalie stopped it, and Westlock went on to beat the Thunder 9 - 3.

Midgets struggle
The Westlock Midget 'AA' team must have been playing possum in their first game of the season, when they lost 6 - 2 to the Slave Lake Thunder. Because since then, Westlock has handled the Thunder rather easily, including Friday's 9 - 3 thrashing.
'Hawks split weekend pair in Fox Creek
The Slave Lake Winterhawks had no trouble handling Fox Creek on Saturday. With only a dozen skaters, they whipped the Bandits 14 - 2.
