Mitsue derailment spills calcium chloride
Six cars on a southbound Canadian National train went off the tracks near the Mitsue Industrial Park on Dec. 2. The derailment shut the track down for over 13 hours, and spilled an amount of liquid calcium chloride.
Town council looking at new ways of charging for water
Slave Lake town council has recognized for some time that the current method of charging for water does not exactly encourage conservation. Customers have to pay for 18 cubic metres a month whether they use it or not. Why use less if you have to pay for more?

Winterhawks shut out Athabasca
The Athabasca Aces have improved quite a bit since earlier in the season. But they’ve still got a fair amount of work to do to catch up to the Slave Lake Winterhawks. Even a ‘Hawks squad that at times only seemed about half interested in the defensive side of the game in their Saturday contest with the Aces.
Wolves have no answer to Huskies
A road trip to Fort St. John is tough under any circumstances. With a short bench it’s that much harder, as the Slave Lake Wolves found out (again) on the weekend.
