Ambulance service broke; asks town for a loan to get to the end of the year
The Slave Lake ambulance service is "out of cash," a joint meeting of town and M.D. councils heard on Dec. 8. As such, the service is asking the town for a loan of $197,000 to it through to the end of the year.

Faust RCMP have released information aimed at clearing the air surrounding a fatal accident near Kinuso last April.

Fire department goalie Andrew Mackay is on his back but apparently made the save on RCMP player JS Giroux in last Thursday's charity hockey challenge in Slave Lake. The score was 10-6 for the RCMP and according to deputy fire chief Jamie Coutts, was very well organized by the Town of Slave Lake and very successful; many toys, a lot of food, and good Salvation Army kettle proceeds.

Winterhawks get the best of division leader Legal
A good two-way effort by the Slave Lake Winterhawks on Saturday resulted in a 5-2 victory over the North Division-leading Legal Vipers.
Pee Wee 'A' make final of Innisfail tourney
Slave Lake's Pee Wee 'A' Thunder had their second helping of higher-level play on the weekend, since dropping out of league play. They made it to the final of of a tournament in Innisfail, losing in the final to Westaskiwin.
