Born: 1935 ![]() Mr. Phillip Pall of Slave Lake, Alberta, former long time resident of Surrey, BC passed away after succumbing to cancer at the age of 73 years. Phillip was born October 28, 1935 at the Royal Alex Hospital in Edmonton to Sophie Pall. As a young child he was given up for adoption and ended up in orphanages all over the province finally ending up in a Salvation Army home in Calgary until his family realized he was there. At age 10 his Grandfather Michael Pall came for him and took Phillip back to Tomahawk, Alberta where Phillip lived with his grandparents, and then various uncles and aunts in the Tomahawk area. At age 15, Phillip struck out on his own working various jobs, farming and carpentry all over Alberta. He then joined the Canadian Peacetime Army Corp. serving in Europe touring Spain, Ireland, Scotland, England, Sweden, Denmark and Germany, where he met his first wife Ursula. He drove a transport truck with Figeol Trucking in Edmonton for a number of years and hauled produce to Whitehorse. Phillip also worked for Everall paving, for Vanderwell Contractors and ran the All-type Second Hand Store in Slave Lake. He was married twice, first to Ursula Pall from Germany (Marianne and Andreas); and then Vivian Diamond (Michael and Brian). He spent the last two winters in the Philippines with his friend Geraldine. Phillip is survived by his two wives, four children, Marianne Dueck, Andreas Pall, Michael Pall and Brian Pall; four grandchildren and numerous relatives. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 5th at 11:00 am at The Gathering Place, 800-6th Ave. NW in Slave Lake,Pastor Harry Pretty officiating. Cremation has taken place. The Vanderwell and Pall families would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Slave Lake General Hospital for their kindness and care to Phillip during his illness.
