Passed: June 27, 2005


Dorothy Ann Johnston (nee Carne) of Smith, Alberta, passed away peacefully at Extendicare in Athabasca, on Monday, June 27 at 8:30 a.m., with Dennis by her side.

Dorothy Struggled for 9 months with the end stages of a rare form of dementia, called Pick’s Disease.

She leaves to mourn her loving husband Dennis, of 44 years, her daughter Kathy (John), Jeremy, David & Karla, of Cochrane, AB, her sons, Dale (Edith), Daryl, Sheri, Ian, Todd, Eric & Emily of Smith, AB, Dwayne (Meron) of Slave Lake, AB, and Mark (Debbie), Jessica & Jerry of Vernon, B.C.

She also leaves to mourn her own mother, Mary Carne, of Vernon, BC, her sisters Ruth (Paul) Gabrys of Edmonton, AB, Arlene (Larry) Rayment of Ardrossan, AB, Phyllis (John) Simon, of Armstrong, BC and her brother Ross (Janice) Carne of Collingwood, ON, as well as numerous great aunts & uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Smith, Alberta, with an internment at the Hondo Cemetery in Hondo.

Special thanks to the caring staff at Extendicare in Athabasca and everyone who remembered her in their prayers.
