Slave Lake and area’s weekly newspaper. The Lakeside Leader started in 1972 as the North Land Free Press in Slave Lake, Alberta. Since then, it has published a community paper weekly. It is available in print, online, and via email subscription. It covers Slave Lake, M.D. of Lesser Slave River, Sawridge First Nation, Kinuso, M.D. of Opportunity, Bigstone Cree Nation, Loon River First Nation, and Peerless Trout First Nation.

The Leader comes out on Wednesday. Advertising deadline is Thursday, 4 p.m. A yearly subscription costs $55.00 (GST included) and $50.00 (GST included) for seniors in Canada. Individual papers are $1.75 and are available on news stands in Slave Lake, Kinuso, and Wabasca.

The paper is available free of charge to M.D. of Lesser Slave River residents at the M.D. office, Canyon Creek Winks, Smith Post Office, Pumps on Main, Flatbush Post Office, news stand in Marten Beach, and at The Leader office in Slave Lake.
