Alberta answers the call for help, sends firefighters to U.S.

Last week 45 firefighters from Alberta were sent to help fight the wildfires in Oregon. Two of the firefighters are from the Slave Lake Forest Area. Shawna Lund of Slave Lake and Chris Carew of Wabasca are en route to Pendleton, Oregon where they will be checking in with wildfire officials for the details of their 18 day deployment. “It’s time to pay it forward.” says Shawna Lund. Last year firefighters from Oregon came to the Slave Lake Forest Area to help battle the McMillan Complex.
