Alliance Church holding third annual ‘Escape the Room’ fundraiser

If getting ‘trapped’ in a room with others and solving riddles is something you enjoy, the Slave Lake Alliance Church is hosting a fundraiser right up your alley.
“This is our third year holding ‘Escape the Room’,” says co-ordinator Carol Baker. “It is to raise money for a refugee camp we sponsor in Rwanda.”
In previous years, the church has raised money to go towards purchasing educational and religious learning tools for the people in the camp.
“We’re hoping to break even around the same amount we made last year,” she says. “It’s fun and for a great cause.”
Baker says the way the fundraiser works is a group of people (up to six) pay to be put into a “locked” room and have 45 minutes to solve mind-games in order to get out.
“The rooms are fairly large so people don’t feel claustrophobic and they aren’t actually locked; it’s just an illusion,” she says. “We have two rooms – one is themed as Pokémon Go and the other is going to be Nursery Nightmare.”
The two-day event will start during the evening on Friday May 6th and run until late on Saturday.
“We had such success last year with having it just on one day so we decided to expand it,” says Baker. “On Friday it is running from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. A new session starts every hour and the cost is $15.00 per person per room.”
Individuals are able to sign up for one room or both online at
“You’ll be asked for your email address,” says Baker. “You can sign up as many as six people in a time slot and please be sure to bring the number of people you sign up with at the time selected.”
The event is happening at Slave Lake Alliance Church – 500 6th Ave N.E.

This looks like an ordinary room, right? Little do you know that it is filled with brain-teasers and riddles that have to be solved in order to escape.
