Slave Lake RCMP weekly update
During the week of August 25th – September 2nd the Slave Lake RCMP received 73 calls to service. Of these, traffic collisions, harassing communications and disturbing the peace were the most prevalent. The following are a sample of some of these calls:
August 26th, 2020 – Mischief, damage to property
The RCMP were called to an apartment building in town due to an audible stairwell alarm being activated. Members attended the building and noticed that a fire extinguisher was used in the stairwell. Video footage was reviewed and the male suspect was identified. He was arrested and released on documents. He is scheduled to appear in court in October.
August 27th, 2020 – False fire alarm
The RCMP attended an apartment building in town due to the fire alarm being activated. Slave Lake Fire attended as well and determined no fire was present. Video footage showed a female suspect deliberately pull the alarm. The female was located in another part of town and arrested. She was released on documents and is scheduled to appear in court in October.
August 29th, 2020 – Theft of motor vehicle
The RCMP were called to a residence due to a theft in progress. The complainant reported he caught a male attempting to steal his motor home. The RCMP responded and arrested the intoxicated male. The male was held until sober and released on court documents. He is scheduled to appear in court in October.
August 31st, 2020 – Traffic violation
The RCMP received a report of a driver doing donuts on Highway 88. This vehicle activity caused rocks to lift off the road and damage the complainant’s vehicle. The suspect vehicle was located in Slave Lake and the driver was identified. The driver was issued a violation ticket for $567 for stunting.
