Bank job protects bridge

Alberta Transportation recently completed a bank stabilization project on Sawridge Creek just upstream of the Hwy. 2 bridge. Regional bridges manager, Brent Herrick, explained that it was undertaken to prevent the creek from eroding the bank further near the bridge, which would eventually have threatened the structure. The term for such a project is ‘river training work.’ The job cost in the vicinity of $200,000.
