Beautiful Gardens of 2025

Lakeside Leader

Joanne Walde and her husband have a garden on her front lawn, for everyone to pass by and look at. In fact, it’s how one Lakeside Leader reporter discovered it last week.

Walde lives on eighth street on the southeast of Slave Lake.

Her favourite part of her garden is the set up in her front yard. She has a garden in the back full of vegetables and a saskatoon bush. Walde has been gardening for 30 years. For readers who want to get into gardening, Walde says, “Pick the colours you like and lots of water. Keep them weed free.”

There was definitely some thoughtful landscaping done here. There is a mix of flowers, leaves and rocks.
The backyard consists of many vegetables. Throughout this photo are potatoes, carrots, peas, cucumbers, rhubarb (in back) and many more.
These pink lilies sure do catch the eye.
A vibrant bunch of geraniums. There is a mix of pink, yellow, purple and bright red. Not only do they look good, but they also smell amazing too!
Various flowers are on display in front of her house including ones in a pot. Creative rock placement also had its say as well!
