Big crowd for pro wrestling show

It’s been a long time since a professtional wrestling show came to Slave Lake, and judging by the turnout at Monster Pro Wrestling’s Welcome to the Jungle event on March 4 at the MRC field house, it was overdue.

Having a local person on the roster had a lot to do with the response as well. Slave Lake’s own Tarzan Hayes (mild-mannered Derri Deschover during the week) was in the Main Event. Well over 200 people showed up to cheer the good guys and boo the villains.

Tarzan Hayes poses with a group of fans after his main event tag team match to close out the Welcome to the Jungle show at the MRC on March 4.
The ‘bad guys’ take over the ring, with Ballistic Bobby Brake directing some outrageous insults at the audience and the community (‘This God-forsaken, glorified gas station you call a town’) to get the crowd stirred up.
