Boilers, etc.

Upgrades to the Northern Lights Aquatic Centre (AKA ‘the pool’) at Northern Lakes College in Slave Lake continue. Facilities manager Paul Chaulk provided this photo last week showing some of the new stuff recently installed in the mechanical room below the pool. At the bottom of the photo are a couple of new boilers, still wrapped in plastic. There’s “a lot of engineering” involved, says Chaulk, by way of explaining the time it is taking. The college is taking advantage of the shutdown to do other work on the pool, including replacing lights, “sprucing up locker rooms,” and replacing a lift, among others. The goal is to have the pool ready for re-opening sometime early in 2021.
