Is that a gold medal hanging around Alvin Anderson’s neck? Yes it is! Anderson won the medal at the Aug. 18 and 19 Alberta 55+ Summer Games in Brooks. Competing in one of the 70+ golf categories, he out-played golfers from seven other zones (he was representing Zone 8) in the two-day, 36-hole competition, winning by six strokes. He says he was leading by two after the first day, and extended his advantage over the second 18. Anderson had earned his spot on the Zone 8 team at a qualifier in Fairview. In other seniors’ games news, former Slave Lake residents George and Lea Dashkewytch won gold in bridge, representing Zone 4.
