A raid by police on June 11 near Grouard resulted in an arrest and charges involving drugs and weapons.
The release from the RCMP says Lakeshore Regional Police and the High Prairie RCMP Integrated Drug Enforcement unit executed search warrants on the Kapawe’no First Nation on the above date.
“During the execution of the warrants, police located two assault rifles, two shotguns and a rifle. Police also located approximately 290 grams of cocaine.”
A 35-year-old Kapawe’no resident has been arrested and faces the following charges: Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine; unsafe storage of firearm; possession of a firearm without a licence and failure to comply.

The suspect is well known to police and the justice system. He was arrested several times in the past year and released on conditions, which he has not been following.
The man’s first court appearance was not noted in the RCMP release.
