Conner Lukan Fitness Park opens at the Slave Lake fire hall

The Conner Lukan Fitness Park is part of the fire training centre grant the Slave Lake firefighters society put in for and received from the government of Alberta.

“We knew the area didn’t have a fitness park and we thought one would be great,” says Lesser Slave Regional Fire Service Fire Chief Jamie Coutts.

Coutts says as the project and funding was coming together the Humboldt bus crash happened and the region was deeply impacted. He said the department had some discussions and decided to call it the Conner Lukan Fitness Park.

Coutts adds from there the project received many donations and grew to what it is today.

“We are very proud to have partnered with so many organizations, people and companies to make this project work.”
