For the Lakeside Leader
A public hearing on industrial camps will be held in Big Lakes County on Mar. 28, to get views from residents on the matter. Council gave first reading on Feb. 28 to a bylaw change that would allow such camps on agricultural property.
The applicant is Dale Giroux, who council heard has already set up such a camp on farmland in the county.
“An industrial camp is neither permitted nor discretionary in the agricultural district,” county planning and development director Pat Olansky told council. “To legally allow the camp to remain on the parcel, a land-use bylaw amendment is required.”
