For the Lakeside Leader
The County of Big Lakes has made upgrades to Hwys. 679 and 749 top priorities when it comes to lobbying the provincial government for funding.
The list was a response to a request by Alberta Transportation’s regional director, to help him in gaining funding for projects in the area. It was prepared by county public works director Vic Abel, and approved by council on Oct. 11..
In order of priority, the projects are: 1a. Repair or overlay of Hwy. 749 from Range Rd. 163 (Peavine paved access road) east to Hwy. 750. 1b. Asphalt rehabilitation for the Peavine paved access road, per the agreement between Alberta Transportation and Big Lakes County dating back to 1997.
2a – Hwy. 749 overlay. 2b – Intersection improvements at Hwy. 749 and Twp. Rd. 740 (Gilwood Rd.)
3. Hwy. 33 creek crossings at Adams Creek and Foley Creek, which are rough and may require grade adjustments.
