‘CRAVE’ event all about supporting local business, shopping

The Leader had featured two pictures from the ‘CRAVE’ event that happened late last month; we thought a little more context was in order so here you are. Distractions co-owner Kimberly Hughes gave us the details on why such an event was put on.
“Bonnie and I wanted to hold a unique event to showcase our new line Dex and Dex Curvy. We are now carrying sizes 1x-3x and wanted to create an opportunity to highlight this new addition,” she says. “We ended up teaming up with Josh Friesen at Cast + Court to create the concept for CRAVE. More than anything right now our goal is to support local and we wanted to inspire a new kind of event where different businesses all come together in support of each other and Slave Lake.”
Hughes adds, “The event kind of took on a life of its own with other businesses being interested and we added the element of giving back with asking attendees to bring a donation for our local food bank or women’s shelter program ‘Toques & Tampons’.”
More than just a fashion and beauty event, Hughes says the evening brought awareness to shopping local.
“Essentially CRAVE is an event to support local business, community charities and a gathering for beauty, wellness and fashion.”
