Dance Creations does well in Fort Saskatchewan

Four $1,000 scholarships, high golds, etc.

Dance Creations brought home 10 high golds and other medals from Heartbeat Dance Festival in Fort Saskatchewan.

This Slave Lake dance studio sent dancers in both the performance and competitive category. Three soloists and one duet won $1,000 scholarships. These were Julia Knutson, Sophia Pothier, Mariel Bias, and the duo of Sophia Pothier and Mikayla Ching.

The six competitive dancers brought home: four high golds, eight golds, four first place, one second place, and four third place awards.

In the performance category, Dance Creation won six high golds, 19 golds, four silver, nine first place, six second place, five third place, and five choreography awards. Two routines made it into the showcase and took first and second place.

The following dancers also received awards for getting first, second, or third highest marks overall.

Competitive: Madison Hunt, Sophie Pothier, Mariel Bias, and (duet) Sophie Pothier and Mikayla Ching
Performance: Daelyn McRee, Julia Knutson, Alexis  Vennings, Evelyn Lillo, Avery VanDenHeuvel, Emery Garon and (duet) Madison and Breeley Gramlich.

This was Dance Creations’ final festival. They will have a year-end recital on May 28 in the Legacy Centre in Slave Lake.

The two advance/intermediate groups hold up fingers to indicate the first and second place that they won in a showcase. They won first place for jazz and second place for lyrical, which all but the two with suspenders danced in.
