Drugs, stolen property seized in rural search

Leader staff

RCMP teamwork led to the seizure of drugs and charges against an individual in a Jan. 16 operation. Also captured, says the RCMP in a news release, were “several illegal firearms and stolen property.”

The drugs – suspected to be methamphetamine and heroin – were found at a rural property in the area of Slave Lake, says the February 1 news release from Slave Lake RCMP.

The release goes on to say that the guns and stolen items were found “at a nearby property.”

The culprit in the case apparently has connections in other areas, but his base of operations was “in the area of Slave Lake.” Hence the help the Slave Lake RCMP had in the investigation from the Desmarais and Athabasca RCMP detachments, as well as the Eastern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit.

The accused in the case is expected to appear in Slave Lake Provincial Court on Feb. 10.
