On Thursday, February 27, E.G. Wahlstrom Elementary School, in Slave Lake, held its first archery tournament- the Eagles’ Open. The home team won the elementary team category, Joussard Lakers came in second, and High Prairie Thunderbirds third.

Fifty-five archers competed in the event, from four schools. These were High Prairie Elementary Thunderbirds, Joussard Lakers, E.G. Wahlstrom Eagles, and Roland Michener Grade 7 Rams.

In individual medals, Eagles won six of the nine medals they qualified for: one gold, three silvers, and two bronze.

Michener Grade 7 Rams were the only school in that category. Christian Anderson won gold. Nate Malcolm placed silver, and Hailee Sarty bronze.

In Grade 6, Joussard Laker Janessa Laboucan-Burlock won gold. Eagles took the other two medals: Samuel Charlebois silver and Mitchell Knutson bronze.

High Prairie Thunderbird Keya Willier won Grade 5 gold. Zachary Hartman won silver, and Jayden Dunlop bronze. Both are Eagles.

In Grade 4, Eagles won gold and silver. Nolan Beaupre gold, and Teagan Foss the other. Laker Jayke Okimaw placed third.

Daniel N and Taiden T, both E.G. Wahlstrom Grade 5 students, score their arrows at the EGW Eagles Open archery tournament.
