To the Editor:
I am writing this letter as a concerned citizen and teacher regarding an (editorial) published in the May 17, 2017 edition of the Lakeside Leader.
I was flabbergasted to read the title “Overkill by ATA” concerning a principal of one of the Slave Lake Schools. It is appalling to realize that a newspaper published an opinion of a subject without informing the public of the facts about the case. There is no previous article about this news stating the facts in this issue of the newspaper.
The writer of the “opinion article” minimized the severity and credibility of these incidents without considering the people affected by this principal.
I urge the editor of the Lakeside Leader to rectify and to accurately inform the readers of the importance of the issue at hand. I ask the editor if he informed himself before writing the article. The facts can easily be obtained by contacting the source of the news at the Alberta Teachers’ Association, Media Relations.
I am confident the association will provide all the information relevant and permitted by privacy laws regarding the case.
