Farmers market returns to Slave Lake: good start!

There was a change of location for the first outdoor farmers market of the season in Slave Lake. It was held on July 26, more or less in the town office and library parking lots. This was after the initially-announced location outside the Legion in downtown Slave Lake fell through. According to Slave Lake Farmers’ Market Society President Brenna Emes, it went well.

“We were thrilled with the turnout,” she says. “The weather was beautiful, the atmosphere was lively, and we had 29 amazing vendors. We welcomed a great mix of local vendors as well as others who traveled from up to three hours away to take part. It was wonderful to see so many people out supporting local.”

Four more outdoor markets are planned for the summer, Emes says. One of the best things about it, she adds, is that “No two markets will be the same! Our vendor list is always changing, so each event brings something new to discover — whether it’s handmade goods, unique gifts, or delicious treats.”

After the outdoor season, the plan is to move the markets indoors at the Slave Lake MRC, and have one per month.

Emes says updates, vendor information and upcoming dates can be found by following the market on Facebook or Instagram, or by visiting slavelakefarmersmarket.ca.
